Scholarships for Troops, 501(c)(3)
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes, Scholarships for Troops is an established nonprofit 501(c)(3), abiding by all US Laws regarding tax deductions and nonprofits. Your donation is tax-deductible. And all in-kind donations (computers, textbooks and classroom supplies) are also tax-deductible.
What is your greatest need?
Scholarships for Troops wants to provide educational opportunities for all troops; so there's no better way to do so by donating to our general Scholarship For Troops Fund. You can designate whether you would like the donation to go to one of our specific programs like the Wounded Troops Scholarship Fund.
Where Does My Donation go?
Your donation goes directly to the troops and military familes who apply for scholarships and other programs.
Doesn't our Government provide scholarships?
Yes, but they are limited. With today's financial burdens, many military families are unable to afford sending their sons and daughters off to college, particularly when their loved one is off serving in Iraq or Afghanistan. Further, the current GI Bill educational provisions do not provide full funding for most troops - active or reservists. Scholarships for Troops is committed to "educating those who serve" with our scholarship programs. We must create more educational opportunities for the injured, active and reservists who fought for our freedoms.
How do you help ROTC Programs? And have universities cut ROTC Programs?
We are in touch with many Universities and Colleges and follow which programs are cut due to lack of funding. We work directly with the Department of Defense to locate these programs and find out what they need to survive. Scholarships for Troops supports ROTC programs by giving grants and helping these programs with whatever materials they need.
Further, many prominent universities have cut out their ROTC programs entirely, citing the "Soloman Amendment" as justification for prohibiting military personnel from recruiting on campuses. We support many of the student groups and local programs in support of keeping these ROTC programs on-campus.
What about JROTC Programs?
We also help save Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC). These programs are vital in providing educational opportunities for many disadvantaged students throughout our country. We cannot allow these programs to be shut down due to lack of funding.
Can companies donate services or supplies?
Yes, Scholarships for Troops will accept donations like Textbooks and Laptops/Computers and send them directly to the troops and families who need them the most. We are always looking for partnership opportunities with companies or businesses of all sizes. We also accept donated computers and laptops directly from individuals.
Where can we send our textbooks and computer donations?
